At Palliative Care Associates we do not have restrictions on who we care for based on age, life expectancy or disease. Our palliative care providers and end-of-life assistance and services are designed to everyone, and we provide expert care to anybody who has a diagnosis of a severe, life-limiting disease and welcome referrals from General Practitioners, Medical Specialists, Nursing colleagues and from patients and families. Patients are able to be thoroughly reviewed in a clinic environment and admission can be organised to Lake Macquarie Private Hospital or Warners Bay Private Hospital. If the patient and consultant prefer, we are also able to provide consultation for patients admitted under other specialties at both of these hospitals.
We know that the patient journey is complex, and we aim to provide flexible, responsive care at every stage. As part of this commitment we are happy to provide care for patients who are continuing life-prolonging treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and aggressive medical management of organ failure. This approach is in contrast to some other Palliative Care providers, but through our determination to offer decent end-of-life assistance and services, we believe that quality-of-life focussed care is appropriate at all stages of an individual’s unique disease journey.
Referral
Self-referral by patients and their family, friends or carer is welcomed by Palliative Care Associates and you do not need a doctor’s referral to be reviewed in clinic. Bulk and Direct Billing
We also believe that the added financial burden from out of pocket expenses is the last thing that patients and their families need to be considering during this challenging time. Therefore, Palliative Care Associates bulk bill for all clinic consultations and direct bill private heath funds or the Department of Veterans Affairs for hospital visits.
